I have a pair of lister liberty's but it is a flat out no for using them on Madams legs. I can trim with comb and scissors but it takes me ages.
I'm wondering if she might be more accepting of trimmers? And they would be handy for trimming her beard/bridle path too.
I don't want anything that gives a close shave/naked finish, can you get some that just trim?
Any recommendations?
She has feather, more than a connie might have for example but not full blown heavy cob feather.

My new cob wasn't keen on my Lister Liberty either, especially as the battery pack was dead so they had to run off the mains. They are really noisy!

I just bought some Liveryman Harmony trimmers. They say they are strong enough to do a full clip, but look and sound more like trimmers.

He has very furry, course legs and I am assured they will cope, as will they when he gets hogged. They weren't cheap, the same price as a very good proportion of his purchase price, but I told myself and Mr Red that they aren't for Rigsby, they are for me. LOL>

I have what are basically dog trimmers, they're cordless (chargeable), really quiet, really low vibration. They get through subercob's legs ok (slowly) as long I dont let him get too hairy. They were about £10 from amazon

I've also got the Liveryman Harmony, and they're amazing. They just slice through the feather and mane, and are quiet enough that I can even do her beard and ears with them. I'll be having a go at a full clip in a few weeks.

Before I got them, I'd been using a Masterclip trimmer. It could cope with hogging her barbed wire mane, but struggled with her feather. However, she has quite heavy feather. If your horse's is light, they could probably cope with that, especially if you keep on top of it, and they're a lot cheaper than the Harmony. The trimmer itself can do 1-2mm, depending on the setting, and it comes with guards to do up to 12mm.

The Harmony will leave about 2.5 mm of hair, if you want to leave more, try using with combs or I have the Lister Adagio trimmer with combs which mean I can leave a bit more protection on my cob's white legs, I use in conjunction with the Lister Liberty with Covercote blades as I don't like white scalped legs plus my cob lives out so asking for mud fever.

Good choice!

I now use the 5F narrow blades for heels and legs, it leaves a 6.4mm length, which IMHO is a more natural look for legs than the 2.4 mm cut of the wide 10 blades that I use for the body and head.

I have the £10-20 dog trimmers everyone on Facebook was raving over. They're good for doing details, and will get through feathers if you're slow. They come with a bunch of clip on guards so you can change the length you cut, too, so you're not scalping.

I also have an expensive set of Wolseley Skylark Trimmers and they're a complete waste of space and haven't come out of their fancy box since I got the cheap and cheerful ones

I too use the dog trimmers to great effect- a dog groomer recently showed me how to use them on cob legs running with the direction of the coat rather than against it- complete revelation and much easier to do legs!! Instant blending. I seriously had never thought of it before, always clipping against the coat- the trimmers cope better too!

Thanks everyone.
The harmony are a little out of reach for now, especially as I'd want the cordless option, which makes them more expensive.
I'll have a look into the Adiago as well as the masterclip - the feather hair is quite fine, her beard hair is coarser (but there's obviously less of it)
If anyone has any specific links to dog ones I'll have a look. But past experience, when I've tried 'alternative' or cheaper options for things, I've only ever had to buy the more expensive option anyway so bit wary!
I definitely want to be able to blend though, no point her having scalped legs up to her knees and hairy tops of her legs!
