Trod on nail - lame a few weeks later?

Blue trod on a nail some sort of fluke bad luck in the arena. It wasn't even a nail it was one of the things that electrical wire is clipped into and to attach it something if you know what i mean?

I have no idea why it was in the arena or how but it must have been there for some time!

It didn't go very far in, as it was already pushed through a bit of thick rubber from the arena surface.

Kept him in that night and kept it clean, and he was fine for the next few weeks, but this weekend he was lame on that same foot.

Would it be from the nail thing do you think ? Infection maybe?

Could well be a foot abscess....is his foot warm at all? Was there an obvious puncture wound? Might be worth getting your farrier to have a dig about

Ditto an abcess. There may have been a very small puncture wound. The muddy ground may have squeezed something up through the flaw in the hoof.

Yup, sounds like an abcess a-brewing.
