Trotting and Cantering Pole Distances...

I know i really should know how far apart i should put trotting and cantering poles...
But i dont, well not for a 11hh welshie

??

So how far apart would you put trotting poles and cantering poles for a 11hh pony?

I always trot/canter the horse on the lunge & see roughly how far apart their strides are, then lay 2 or 3 poles down at the rough distance & see how it goes. And if they need it, alter them to suit. It really depends on how big the animals strides are.

Sorry, not much help as I couldn't say for certain how far apart you'd need them.

Trot poles, I would put one small stride inbetween each, but if you are doing scatter poles then you can vary them as they are further apart and you can leave him to sort himself out a bit more, kinda 2 big strides... but not that sure tbh.
