My TB has been bf for approx 7 months now and we have seen an improvement in his feet, he only really struggles on large gravel (and who wouldn't) however, his rider had him trotting excessively for long periods and now he is back to being very footsore, no heat or swelling on his legs, just very uncomfortable walking, is it possible he has damaged his feet, he is currently on field rest for a few days

Trotting excessively on what surface? Sensitivity could have all sorts of reasons: bruised sole, thrush, excessive hoof wear caused by too-rapid increase in exercise, or even low-grade laminitis. Can you tell us more?

x2 what Spookypony said. Barefoot doesn't mean bullet proof and the same rules still apply. If he isn't conditioned to trotting for miles then it's going to hurt, especially if it's on hard ground. Which may or may not be a problem for you guys at the moment!
