Trotting Pole distances

Hi, I am planning to do trotting poles on my horse (16.1h) tonight to encourage him to lengthen his stride but have not done these for such a long time and cannot remember the distances

Can you give answers in human steps please

i do one stride of mine and then put a pole , how very techincal(sp) lol, then just change them if they are wrong, im sure some one will have soem better and proper ways

For my 16.1 cob, we start at four human foot lengths, then adjust say, if i was making him extend and collect once he was going nicely by widening them or bringing them in.

i do 4 size 8 feet between each pole for my lad. he's 16.2hh and short backed.
