Sorry i know this has been done soo often but how far apart would trotting poles be for my 14.1 cob who has a very active trot and who has quite long strides? I never seem to get the distances right!
thanks!

i normally say 3-4 foot lengths.... but if he has quite a long stride id go for 4-5 depending on the length

others may disagree!

also depends on how big ur feet are!

Hi xbuzzx if your new to using them try doing just 2 then 3 then 4 etc to guage how much room you need as all horses are different - i normally start with just 1 longish walking step between (my horse is 16'3 though) and move them further and further making my horse really use himself to extend his trot - also i like to have 3 or 4 sets around the school so one line down each long side and then across each diagonal - you can vary the distances to practice shortening and lengthening your horses stride and you can do figure of 8s around them all varying the tempo of the trot. I find that really helps engage them and get them working through from behind. Hope that helps x
