Trotting poles without stirrups

No idea why I want to ask, but

Would you do trotting poles without stirrups? I can't rise without stirrups so I was wondering if you need to keep the weight off the horse's back as much as possible, which I suppose isn't realistic if you can't rise.

As an extra- would you ride bareback over trotting poles?

Theres no harm in doing them without stirrups. Can you get into a forward/jumping position without stirrups? Ideally the weight needs to be off the back, or you need to be very supple to absorb the extra movement in an upright position.
