This is totally poinless post but I sooooooo need to vent it, is always always me that trouble seems to find
I just popped down to the tack shop, driving along tunes going enjoying the sun
Checked my rear view mirror thought that looks like a riderless Clysdale bolting down the road behind me.
It sure as heel was, into action mode I go
Block as much road as possible, as horse is bearing down on me and it keeps coming. Flap arms in air so it breaks to a trot tries to swerve but god I got hands to reins, carted down the road a bit and finally pull it up.
Standing with strange horse looking aroud thinking what to do. Along comes a little car with a hysterical mother and young girl. It is their horse.
Great can I give it back and get on with my life ohhhhhhhh no.
Mother hysterically screaming they can't lead it will kill them. They had tried to hack him alone with mum chasing daughter in the car (you do this for nappy horses apparently). As they turned for home he got a bit on his toes girl gets off and horse bolts. Mum points out to me that he is young and they only had him three weeks and don't know what to do with him as they are terrified. Could I take him back to yard for them.
Can you call a box and load him home, ohhhhhhhhh no he doesn't load.
Guy arrives from yard will he take horse no as horse floored him and went over the top of him. I got so fed up I led the horse two miles back to yard and turn it out for them. Filed was nearer than stable and all the flaming mum is fretting about is he will get wet without a rug on.
I was so so annoyed forget a thank you. Mind you her words to me and I kid not " he can be so nice to us when ever we have food and the stable door between us and he looks so handsome when he is running along"
I won't say what words actually left my mouth but they were along the lines of sell the horse to someone who can sort it out before people get seriously injured and the horse is ruined. Walk two miles back to car in pouring rain
Screaming for god sake why the bloody hell me again

God! poor you, there is nothing you can do or say!!!

What would they have done without you?

I can't believe they a) didn't say thank you and b) didn't give you a lift back to your car.

You are a saint and your reward will come

Look at it this way, if you hadn't been there, the horse may have ended up dead having caused a fatal accident. They were incredibly lucky that he was stopped by someone who knows about horses and knew what to do. Are you a trouble magnet by nature????

LL got out one evening - first I knew about it was a call from then nine year old daughter from a lady's house down the road! LL had taken off from the stable, daughter had yelled and legged it after him! We were the other end of the block and didn't hear her

Long story short (including Friend going round bends on two wheels in her Frontera), pony was back fine. It was two days before I was able to get choccies to nice lady who let strange child in to use her phone

"Trouble Magnet By Nature" lol
Yeah afraid it really really does seem to be the case, horses make a bee line for me.
I was just so so angry, and can't believe the stupidity
The guy was 6ft something and no slim jim at all and just as scared as stupid mother and brat daughter.
Hmmmmmmmm the horse was fairly well behaved, luckily I use 12ft lines for leading and I am strict about my personal space (horse stays out unless invited it). After about 5 minute lesson the lad walked as good as gold. Decided attention on me was better than the grass verges.
How I didn't smack the mum I don't know screaming the most useless comments. I feel so sad for the poor horse I really do. Hopefully they may see sense and sell him to nice people who know horses.

Well done you, i would of done what you did but would also of given them a bl**dy big mouthful if ty did not say thanks and would of insisted on a lift back to my car.
And we wonder why horse people get such a bad name for being stuck up, with people like that around

I always seem to find loose horses. When I lived in Northants there were lots of random gypsy horses dumped in fields or tethered by the road. One morning while driving to work I spotted a police car blocking a horse into a gateway with a worried looking policeman trying to stop it getting on the road.
I stopped to see if I could help and dug around in my car for an old headcollar. After helping him put the headcollar on the horse so he he could at least hang onto it (he said the RSPCA were on their way with a box) and giving him a quick lesson in handling horses (don't stand in front of or behind it, don't pat it on the front of its head etc!!!) I left for work, insisting that I didn't want the headcollar back.
However, he must have memorised my numberplate and traced my address from it, because a couple of weeks later the headcollar reappeared in an envelope!

You poor thing!!! you are too nice.

I can't stand these people who don't know how to say thank you. I fell off Monty by the side of the golf course and he ran for home once. I live in London so the roads are VERY busy. A very small old Irish man jumped in front of him and stopped him (no mean feat when you have 17hh of galloping tb bearing down on you). I couldn't stop thanking him!!! He had also called an ambulance (not needed but very nice) and he swiftly gave me leg up and walked me back to the yard.

Wha a poppet!

Considering the guys suggestion if I didn't assist was to tie the horse to the bumper of the car and drive it home slowly that way it would be secured (cause no bogger can lead the damn thing).
Actually he was quite a sweet youngster who is just ruling the owners.
Ahhhhhhh thanks guys I am breathing normally now and feeling a lot calmer not to mention drier.

What a full morning! Thank goodness you were there.
I can't believe how many people buy horses that are too much for them. I knew someone who bought the horse that bucked their novice daughter off when she tried it 'because she looked good on it' (just not so good on the ground). Needless to say it was soon sold on again because daughter could do nothing with it.
It might be worth your ringing Redwings and asking if they have any-one available to go out and educate the owners about the right way to deal with this horse.

Dear god, had that been me, and the horse quite nice, I would have offered the mum the £5 note in my purse and told them to hop it
