Help! I'm really struggling to find where to look. Obviously there is the ever helpful H&H classifieds but aside from that I don't know where to look. Looking on the internet there are a number of equestrian specific estate agents that sell equestrian property but don't do rentals. This leaves using either search engines or searching each individual estate agent that does rentals but almost none of these have equestrian specific searches resulting in lots of scrolling through pages and pages of irrelevant houses and finding nothing at the end . It's starting to get really frustrating. So, I'm wondering if there's some trick to this that I'm missing . Any clever people know the ropes to this?

Or is is just that there isn't a lot around? Maybe I'm struggling to find much because there just isn't really any ? See, I'm very very confused. Can somebody enlighten me PLEASE :D!!

Thanks for the replies... sadly, still no luck. Will keep an eye on prime location, that's a helpful one thank you. I can only find houses for sale on horsemart. Any other ideas?

I found my current house on right move, there was a number of equestrian properties when I was looking and a couple like mine with just a few stables and land with house. It's worth a look

What area are you looking at ?

Quite a large area kind of M4 corridor between Windsor junction 6 right up to junction 14 for Hungerford, upto about 20 minutes from the motorway. So windsor, ascot, reading, newbury, lambourn, hungerford etc. Also would possibly consider M4 side of M3 direction so kind of basingstoke area.

Hmmm, thanks for the help, may I ask what kind of search categories you selected to find these? When I use right move I can't find a way of selecting either houses with land or stables or equestrian etc. So instead I'm looking through masses of houses that are totally irrelevant with the hope that on the off chance I MAY find something with stables. Is it just a case of trawling away?

I have been looking for one for months :-( it's quite a depressing task at times. Try Pelhams, pilgrim bond, Jackson equestrian, guy Leonard sometimes have some in.

You will have more luck on primelocation if you input a specific search such as stables or equestrian.

Good luck with your search, if you see any in Sussex or Kent let me know ;-)

Am afraid it was just a case of trawling through them all, there was a couple that had in bold equestrian property but most you had to click into them to find

We just trawled, and trawled some more, on findaproperty. But our search area was very rural, so fewer properties to discard.

Good luck...

Henbug whereabouts in country are you looking?

Makes searching quite difficult because I'm looking at parts of quite a few different counties

Also don't discount places that are for sale. I am cheeky and if I see something I like I try to find out who owns the house (Land Registry search, £4) and write to them direct saying if they ever consider renting instead, please bear us in mind. It is surprising how many positive responses I got back from doing that. Don't go through the estate agent though, I have found they tend not to pass the message on,,,

Thank you, I'd NEVER have thought of doing that, incredibly helpful. Will go and have a look. Thanks again :D

Henbug I have seen somewhere with stables and house to rent fairly recently on my travels about the Thames Valley. Was either a notice in a tack shop (so that would likely have been Eileen Douglas in Wokingham or Henley, or Countrwide) or could have been something I drove past in which case I have a feeling was near Thatcham (but could have been anywhere). Problem is I cannot remember where! So posting this for when I see it again and I can pm you.

I live between Bstoke and Winchester and think you might find it very hard to rent anything in this area? I don't know of any places up for rent. I do however, know someone who's running a yard into the ground! not sure how easy it would be to get it off of her though haha!

Sadly I know that feeling all to well !! Will have a check in Eileen Douglas just in case. Thames valley would be ideal. You've also made me think that it might be worth having a drive around tack shops in case there is anything privately advertised (and lets face it, it's hardly a bad job driving around to have a look at tack shops :D!) Thanks for the help

What are you actually looking for - stables, stables and house, stables with house nearby, land?

House and stables (preferably 4, but if less and looking at long term might be happy to put a couple up), really would like to have a school but open to ideas maybe able to use a school very nearby or the ground is unusually good (I always think it would be amazing to live somewhere that had ground like tweseldown... take the grass off and ta! da! one sand school!... sadly I DON'T think that it's likely to happen but I like the idea! :D)
