Think draw reins caused uproar and then they are always having a go at Carl or Katie Price . I can just imagine who some of them are , and I am sure they are not worthy.
It is the strangest forum!

Lovely girl called Josie, tells a lovely story of how Carl has helped her and she is fed up with him being insulted on there and is leaving the forum .
I don't blame her , hope she comes on here instead.

It was taken off by OP. I think she didn't want a debate just wanted to know if people used them ,when did they use them, but as usual it got out of hand.
I know Peter Storr said he had used them occasionally if he was on a naughty stallion [ I think] then I missed the rest until tonight when this lovely girl is defending Carl and the post has gone.

I use draw reins very occasionally during canter work as my boy is such a big lad to hold together - always feel like its some sort of cardinal sin by the reaction i get, but it makes it o much easier as he's very long in the back!

I browse BD forum a couple of times a week but never post, used to but much to bitchy, every thread seems to start ok then someone manages to turn it around into having a dig at someone else.

If they are not digging at others they are touting for business, a couple of them are really good at doing this, personally if you need to tout for business on a forum you cant be that good a trainer.

A grand prix rider posted on there once a really nice poem about smiling and someone managed to turn that round into cruelty to horses, give me the H and H forum anyday.

It is a bit mental in there - particularly that person beginning with Z?!

YO uses it but I don't really know why tbh, I think they're all nuts.

The draw rein debate was interesting, and it started well, people giving reasoned thought . Even discussed that they should be taught how to be used as not doing so leads to the abuse. The drawreins themselves are not the problem it is the application that causes the problem!!
Yes i have used them , yes i teach people how to use them , my girls hack one of my stallions out in them, they are there if she needs them but on the whole they never come in to play and he hacks out happily [ not with his head between his knees i might add!!] and she as the knowledge she has that some thing extra if needs be.
Also use them as i work all the time in only a snaffle , if i am teaching a big strong young horse something like flying changes when they can set sail!! this just helps give a little control without having to stop riding forward...[and i dont set a new land speed record!]
So that was the debate.... lots of people talking and then the lentil eating , sandle wearing bunch ' who ride with silk reins' all jump in and start cr*ping on , if that does'nt work they attack. Anky, Carl and KP [ although she is game i am afraid!! Tee Hee!!]
As Mrs Merton used to say ' lets have a reasoned debate.....' not on BD you wont.......!!!!

Im too scared to post on there!!! I know a few people that say the same. Shame really isn't it as it could be such an invaluable source of information and advice.

I don't find it scary tbh, but its a great shame that a few nutcases seem to use to to grind their axes. Interesting threads (like the draw reins one) degenerate into personal attacks, usually aimed at Carl Hester/ Anky/ all British team riders/ Anna Ross-Davies / Maria Eilberg (delete as appropriate).

Peter Storr usually has something funny and sensible to say and doesn't rise to the bait. But the three or four sandal wearing mamas manage to turn every post into a "dressage today is dreadful, you are all ruining your horses, everything must be KLASSIKAL, YOU ARE ALL HORSE ABUSERS"

Sorry but this forum can be a lot scarier!
Say the wrong thing on here or tackle a thousand odd user and your dead meat.
At least on there they don't show how many posts you've done so the 'more post more important' brigade don't exist.
All forums have bullies and back biters it's part of it.

Don't let the BD forum frighten you. The 'debate' can get heated and personal for some reason but this is rare. Hearing very knowledgeable people discuss Scales of Training etc might sound boring - but if you want to improve and perhaps understand why you get certain marks in tests and how you can improve these do log on. They dont bite!
