Has anyone on here sat their TRSS Senior Ride Leader exam?
I passed my Ride Leader exam a couple years ago and am now thinking about taking on the senior exam but I’d like to have a better idea of what is actually included in the exam before I take it, as I’m sure I’ll definitely need to refresh my memory before then!
I don’t know anyone who has taken the exam to be able to ask, and I haven’t been able to get any kind of syllabus from the TRSS.

TIA!

I know someone who passed a few weeks ago and really cannot ride (failed the BHS Stage 1 for going on the wrong diagonal/ can’t ride on the bit… … …) and has never learnt safe practice for tacking up…

As long as you don’t fall off in the exam, and can get a saddle & bridle on a horse, I don’t see how you can fail.

How did the TRSS exam go? What did it entail?

It's not looking at your riding . Most of it is on safe hacking, emergency procedures, basic first aid, that kind of thing.

Have you tried talking to the examining centres? When it was at Crieff Hydro they used to hold a refresher day before hand. I think the Ormistons do one at Kingussie now.

Yes, the TRSS is running assessments at Highland Horse Fun Newtonmore, Ruairidh Orminston’s place. Ruairidh is now on the board.

That’s fine that the TRSS are not assessing riding ‘ability’ per se, but surely you should be a good enough rider to be safe out hacking?
It cannot be right that this is the only qualification you need to get a license to run a yard?
