... this bit has caught my eye (for my unbroken youngster)...

...has anyone used this or similar... just trying to justify the £100 ish price, if it were cheap I would just give it a whirl, but anecdotal experience is always valuable!

There is also a bomber blue happy tongue eggbutt which also has the shallow, wide port I'm looking for... ...mmmm.

I'm not 100% sure which bit you mean but I use this one for my youngster https://www.equiport.co.uk/products/horse/bits/inno-sense-ported-dee-ring-snaffle-tr34/

He loves it as it's actually much better than it looks in pictures, it has more shape to it and the ported bit is slightly flattened so it's less cumbersome.

Yes, this is the same one (just the D ring version) ... it is just advertised by a slightly shortened name on the different website. I think they look really good, am glad you found it suitable/good choice. I'm very tempted to buy one. My filly is used to an 'in hand nylon' one, but even for showing this year (now 2 year old) I'm not keen on the tiny ornamental bit rings, so easy for them to pull through mouth if something goes wrong. Hence looking for the next thing.

I like the gently ported shape. Thanks for your reply, I found it useful.
