I decided to go out for a half hour ride this morning.... It took me over an hour :o
set out, and Roo was a good girl, we went into a field and had a little canter
Then round the bottom of the field, we found a bridge over a little stream. Over the other side I found a few fields to go round. Was nice.
Got to the bottom corner, and there was a shallow clear bit of stream that if we went through cut about 20 mins off our hack....

Only Roo wouldnt get in. Kept running backwards.
So I thought "I know, Ill lead her, next time she'll know its not scary"
yeah..... NO .... I spent 20 minutes, with me hopping in and out of the water, her having NONE of it. Me stood IN the river with soaking wet feet :o Her perfectly dry and laughing at me
managed to pull her bridle off :o I wasnt pulling hard :o
So in the end, I got back on, with my soggy feet. And rode the long way round home

Got into the field near home. I wanted to trot.... Roo wanted to canter. Because I held her back, she threw a strop and put in a HUGE buck  Then proceded to be VERY strong all the way up the field.
Then we found a horse paddock where the wall was so low the horse could easily step over and escape. And it was cantering alongside us, me telling it to "dont you dare get out!! go back! AWAY!!" LOL

Im hoping her silliness was her saying that shes feeling good (coz I put her on a new supplement 3 days back, dunno if it can take effect so quick )

a few years ago, before OH started hiring horses to hunt on, he ran with the hunt. A young lass was on a little coloured cob when they came to a bridleway gate that went steep down after it to a stream, then back up the other side. Pony said no, rider kicked, pony said no, OH offered to help. After a few tries pony decided that OH would make a good stepping stone, jumped at him, knocked him over and bounced over the stream.... cue one very wet OH with soggy shoes and socks for running in for the rest of the day!

very funny RG!

I can just picture that too!!:D Roo laughing at you stood in the stream!:D

My moose is dreadful to get near water (she has very delicate clod-hopper-dinner-plate-hairy feet don't ya know:rolleyes:) and I've got a competition weekend after next involving a 20k hack, which will enevitably involve a stream crossing and no doubt a bridge too, thrown in for good measure, as we don't "do" those either!!

CiaB: Thats no good :O When you come hack with me, we need to go over two bridges. One with a waterfall underneath haha, will have to find another route  :D

Enjoy your competition :D x

we went down new forest last year and years back last year we hacking along a trail saw some muddy ground then woosh diamond straight down into bog i had to jump off cos i know those bogs can hide a tank . the first time this happened around 15 years ago we went in a bog she would nt go near water so i had to get off int he stream to and the day we went to the sea she wouldn go near the wave thought they were coming to get her. so i decided to try reverse and this did work when she saw the waves breaking around her she walked backwards into the sea lol
