Friday afternoon musings...

I've decided it's time to upgrade my own gear having spent plenty on kitting my fat cob out :-) Currently I'm still using the same Mears jacket I've had since I was 15 (and I'm now twice that age) and although it still fits fine it's not hugely stylish and I think jackets have come on a bit since then..!

So - firstly, I wondered if it's OK to wear a grey jacket for BD? Currently we're unaffiliated, hoping to affiliate later this year. My hat is black so would otherwise get a black jacket rather than navy. I just like grey and not sure if it's de rigeur or not - I think the rulebook says you can have any plain dark colour.

And then style - I'm 5'10 and size 10 on a barely 15hh very rotund horse so I'm not sure what would work best!

Any pointers would be great - I don't want to spend £100s and £100s (not at least until we've made it past Prelim!!) probably around £150.

Thanks!

If the rule book says plain dark then I would assume you need to go for navy or black or poss dark green.

Good luck

Taken from the BD rule book for 2015

Tail coats and short jackets may be any conservative, dark colour, e.g. black, navy, bottle
green, charcoal grey, brown, etc, and may not be multi*coloured or boldly striped. Subtle
pinstripes are permitted, as are coloured collars and contrast piping to collar, lapels,
pockets and vents. The red collar on a navy jacket used by the British team may not be
used. Tweed jackets may not be brightly coloured or have loud patterns.

So dark grey would be OK

Depends if you want to stand out. Almost all will be in navy or black. Judges shouldn't be prejudice but some are!
