I sold my 16.1 bay gelding TB over a year ago now. He is called Scooby, an ex-racer (passport Airbridge) and would be about 17/18 years old now. Ridden in a bitless bridle as he goes better this way (he was sold with it).
I owned him for 2 years, he was my first horse after having one as a teenager and he was not that good for my confidence, being a quirky TB. Nevertheless, we had a bond and I loved him. I sold him to a young girl in Nottinghamshire who was looking for something quirky to help her with her equine studies. I asked her to give me first refusal if she ever wanted to sell him, to which she agreed and she kept in touch regularly with photos and texts.
A few months ago she texted me and after chatting a bit, said she was thinking of selling him - it caught me out a bit, as I myself was looking for another horse after my so called safe confidence giver turned out to be anything but. I hesitated, but looked into a retirement paddock, as if I had him back I would probably just retire him - and texted her back saying I would have him.
Since then I have heard nothing - I have texted twice, asking nicely if everything was okay, I sent a couple of emails asking the same - nothing has been sent back, not a word, which is unusual for her as she was always so keen to keep in touch and let me know how she was getting on with him.
I am really worried now - I keep telling myself to let it go, and I can't do anything about it - but he has had such a difficult life, I found out a lot about his past in the time I had him, he was pushed from pillar to post and I was the only person who owned him for any length of time. I regret selling him, but thought it was best option at the time. He is a tricky horse to ride, extremely sensitive, and it has been his undoing in the past. I want him back so much as I feel responsible for him. I know it is just him as I sold my most recent horse and have never looked back.
I just don't understand why she has cut me off so suddenly and I just need to know he is okay - I dream about him with alarming frequency, and in the dream he comes back to me and I am so happy.
