my horse has been tucked up and tight around his abdomen for the last 4 weeks and has been under vet supervision, was originally treated for pulled muscle but got worse, had back checked and all ok, bloods, urine test, scan of abdomen and scoped but nothing showed up. came home last week and developed colic symptoms ie roling around kicking his belly ect but is still bright and eating in himself, going in again tommorow for further investigation, anybody any had any similar symptoms?

Can you tell us a little more, i.e., his history, what you are feeding him, when does he colic, what is his behaviour in and out of the stable and under saddle, how long have you had him. The more info you can give us, the more people can respond.

Hope we can help you xx

Yes and found out he had been bitten badly right under his belly. The bites were invisible under his winter coat but they caused him a lot of discomfort for several weeks. Vet said they were some form of mites.

he is an 8 year old irish sports horse whome i compete in sj, his behaviour in the stable is quiet and easy to do and is happy to graze quietly when out in the field, he does not get stressy even when competing away from and travelling long distances, i have had him for 2 years and never had any problems like this with him before, he is fine under saddle always working nice and supple and very responsive to your leg and willing and pleasing to work for you, he enjoys his workload and thrives on going out and doing his job.i feed him havens slober mash, alfa a, cavalor mix, garlic , oil, carrots, electrolyes when needed and sugar beet in winter, he has two feeds a day and haylage, his feeding regime has not been changed in anyway. he does not colic after doing something pecific it just comes out th blue, usually the first symptoms he gives is curling his lips , yawning a lot, looking at his flanks and sometimes rolling but not always, last time he had a bout is came, went and come back again and then has come back for no apparant reason.he has been on bute and anitibiotics the last 2 weeks but heses do not touch him.
