Has anyone got or ever had these boots? I'd just like to know if they're any good or not. Unfortunately due to my rather large calves (I'm tubby as well as riding and used to play ice hockey  :o ) I need a lot more room in them than is average! :(

My main concern is that they don't appear to be intended for riding in so if you do have them do you ride in them? Are they ok? Are they particularly warm? I'm currently riding in my muck boot esks when it's wet and desperate to find something a little better for our many roadwork hacks.

Chocolate hedgehogs on offer to anyone who can help since I'm making some for our dressage clinic tomorrow anyway!

Thanks :D

Suffolks are amazing! Warm, massively hard wearing and they do a wider leg fitting too. They have a very ridged chunky sole so would not recommend riding in them, but tuffa also do a boot called the country rider, which is basically the same but has a riding sole - hope that helps :)

LOVE mine. Great quality, comfortable and very waterproof. I don't ride in mine but they are suitable to ride in if you get the ones with the correct sole.
I got a pair of black ones last year at Burghley which were reduced , so it pays to look on their website.
Michelle is very helpful there, so I think if you contacted them and gave them your calf measurements they would be able to advise which style would be suitable for you.

Thank you! I've found a local shop that stocks them and seems to be pretty reasonable price wise so I'm going to go and have a look tomorrow. :)

Only downside is that the country rider boots don't come in a broad fitting and I don't like the sole on the bottom of the Sussex boot! Oh well, will see what they're like when I get there. Can't be any worse than riding in my wellies I'm sure! ;)

Hopefully I'll be coming back with some lovely new boots :D

I ride in mine fine:) They are cosy warm but I found the foot size to come up a bit big-I'm a 6 usually but the 6 feels a bit big-I have to wear 2pairs of socks:-/ Still like them tho:)

Perfect, thank you! Great to find some people who ride in them without a problem! :D

Even better that nobody is complaining that they leak yet! Anyone else? :D

I've just had a very lucky moment, found the country rider in broad (fat leg for the rest of us!) on sale on the Tuffa website so got them with £20 off and in the wide fit that the shops don't seem to have!

My order is in and I'm now waiting on edge for them to arrive, how exciting! I know, I'm very very special lol! :D:D:D:o

I ride in mine just fine. Had them 4 years now and still going strong, do need to reproof them though, they are struggling a bit in these monsoon conditions!

Thanks BB, that's very reassuring. I know they're not the most expensive boots out there but I'd like to think they'll last a few years. What do you use to reproof yours? The Tuffa website suggests some stuff from India but I doubt that will be easy to get hold of! ;)

I've got Nik Wax, just need to get round to using it!

Another vote for them. I have chunky legs and have had them (the boots) for nearly two years. I don't wear them for the horse or riding I wear them for work in the winter (garage so in and out of the cold all day) and for general wear.

They haven't got a mark on them and are really comfortable. Dead warm too.

Do shop around though, they can vary by about £30 in price.
