I've been feeding my lot turmeric - been sprinkling it into their feed along with the black pepper and some virgin olive oil. I know the pepper does something which means the turmeric is absorbed better but is the oil just a carrier? Does it actually do anything? I make golden paste for myself and can see why its needed in that (to make it more liquid) but wondering if I can leave it out of their feed...?

I've heard this stuff is meant to be good, I would like to give it a go on my horse. Does anyone have a link to where you can buy the stuff and the info I will need please.

The one they sell at Tesco has the active ingredient in it. I feed a tablespoon ish, and about 10 good grinds of black pepper, and then linseed. The pepper has to be ground fresh apparently

The oils you need to use are Coconut, Olive or linseed. These oils have the correct ratio of Omega 3,6 and 9.

The Turmeric you buy in any super market is fine but watch for the active ingredient which is curcumin this is what you need. The best place to get it is from an Asian shop. The freshly ground Black Pepper activates the Turmeric.

If it works it is a good cheap way of helping any animal or Human.

The facebook page is alright but they are very passionate and will not have anyone say anything against them. There is a lot of information on there that they expect you to read and are always referring to the files even if it only needs a simple short answer.

I get mine from a local Asian supermarket - it is called Haldi. it cost me less than £2 for an enormous bag, which compared to the capsules (for people) that Holland & Barrett sell for almost £10, which don't contain pepper or oil, and don't tell you that you need those ingredients either, is very good value.

ETA, should have made it clear, the Urdu name for turmeric is Haldi.

I left the TUG on FB because they were incredibly rude and bullying. Is anyone in the Turmeric Users UK group - are they more helpful?
You can get 5% circumin turmeric from Valley View on ebay, not as cheap as Asian supermarkets, I just wish we had one of them round here.
