Our 6 year old mare has recently been diagnosed with arthritic changes in her articular facets in the thoracic spine. My vet is fairly sceptical about supplements but has no problem with us trying alongside veterinary treatment, and we have discussed turmeric, green lip mussels, glucosamine etc.
We have started feeding turmeric, but cant really manage to get this in twice a day every day. Horse lives out 24/7 on full grass livery and is fed twice daily in the field. We are lunging daily and giving an additional (small) feed afterwards in order to get the supplements in.
So first question is, will we see any benefits from turmeric if feeding just once a day? Or are we wasting our time?
I've come across Maxaflex and as this contains all the other supplements the vet suggested (and is given once daily) I was wondering if this can be fed alongside the turmeric?
Looking for something that will support the rest of the treatment plan we are undergoing for the next couple of months, and after that we can adjust things to see what is most beneficial.
