can anybody explain it in a numpty proof way for me as have never got it. my instructers tried to teach it to me and my horse but i'm just finding myself very confused and not sure what i'm achieving.

better still, anybody got a video of it being done properly? got somebody to video me today which helped a bit as could see him doing it but still not sure if its right??

thankyou!! cookies and ice cream for all

I have done it worked very well on a certain welsh mare lol. not sure how well i can explain it.

I was told you need to keep a strong contact on the outside rein so they don't bend their neck too much. And also if anything to cross the outside hand over the neck. then tonnes of outside leg on the girth and sit deep on your inside seat bone and turn your body. i guess a bit like riding those polo horses.

hope that helps :s

I do them with Frank to get his shoulders moving and good for straightness.

Slow the walk (he likes this bit) sit slightly on the inside seatbone (I think am trying to imagine doing it!). outside leg on the girth (I tend to vibrate it though I don't usually for other stuff). keep neck straight, poss small inside bend. use outside rein on neck to encourage horse to move away from it and stick if required. useful to have someone on the ground to push the shoulder over until they get the hang of it.
