I tried teaching Daisy turn on the haunches today and she kind of got it but not great, we had a little bit of movement of the back legs as well.

What aids do you give? I want to check I'm doing it right.

If turning to left, use left rein slightly open to guide the horse into that space, right rein against neck to prevent forward movement (don't pull back) and use right leg to ask the horse to move to the left.

However when I have taught this to babies, I do it in hand first. So as to not confuse them I tap their bottom to do turn on forehand and tap shoulders for turn on haunches. So instead of using leg at girth area bring leg slightly forward to turn shoulders. (This is to train them once trained you can ask in normal way)

A bit long winded, other professional people (Not me!) may have a simpler explanation.

Good Luck x
