Afternoon all -

I am considering investing in a set of turnout boots for my horse now he is quite a large herd. I want to protect his legs from kicks, scrapes and also mud! he has pink heels, never had mud fever etc in the past but now I am on a livery yard which isnt exaclty mud free in the summer so the winter is going to be even worse! I know the horses get one round bale which is surrounded by mud as is the gate - at home my horse use to stand on hardcore for his hay so this is something that will be new to him.

Which boots are best and do they protect? also, he is on full livery in winter - do YO mind putting the boots on? IMO I am paying for a service and it shouldnt be an issue but I know how delicate things can be at yards.

thanks,
Em

I had equilibrium close contact turnout boots as I was worried the horses legs would over heat in normal ones. They are really good but they kept getting Filthy and wet through the winter and when they dried they dried quite stiff and I was worried they would rub. So now I just use over reach boots.

I have a set of Premier Equine turnout boots and they are very good. They fit nicely and have been washed and are as good as new

i have equilibrium hardy chaps and they are good at protecting legs but the mud does get underneath them and gets rubbed into their legs so arent great in the winter... other than that i would just say brushing boots and over reach boots as everything else i have tried seem to have the same effect except they are more expensive to replace!
