Just wondering what is the best way to turn a available field shelter into two boxes? There is a gate across the front so that's not an issue, but what is the best way to divide the inside? I was thinking of another wooden gate but maybe post and rail with kick boards? Very confused.

If this is more than a short term temporary fix, then I would sink in at least 2 posts and another nailed to the back wall.
Then clad with kick boards on each side.

If for small ponies then you ought to only need a half height partition but best clad on both sides, so stronger when they lean on it..
Finish off with a small gate or stable door for each, hinging so when shut you have a small v shape just inside the shelter.

The same worked for me when I divided a stable for 2 x 12hh ponies 1 winter :)

Thanks, it's a permanent thing.

I have been really naughty and a got mini-nut a shetland (will post pics when actually arrives). He will go out with T and then share the shelter. I want to have them in separate areas as opposed to being in together.

I think posts and kick boards is possibly the way to go but there is the height difference. T is 14.2hh and F is approximately 10hh, which is why I thought of post and rail.

We converted our original 20' x12' field shelter with single front entrance into two small loose boxes, dividing it with a full height wooden partition clad on either side with kick boards. The partition was anchored firmly to the roof joist and the walls. OH custom built two stable doors, and it worked very well as stabling for over 20 years :).

Each box measured internally at about 9'10" by 11'10", and housed horses up to 15.3hh.
