Looking for some advice. A new mare has just moved to the yard and the owner wants it to go in with my mare. This is my first experience of full livery and am really struggling with the lack of control but obviously understand unless I have good reason I cannot abject to these things. I have a few concerns regarding this horse. She is quite stressy and walks the fence line most of the day. She gallops around when any of the horses move around the yard. My main concern is that she is fed regumate. Our paddocks are not poo picked as regularly as I would like and they currently share round bales of hay which are often pooed on etc. is there any risk of my mare ingesting any regumate. My mare is a lovely quiet a calm 6yr old that has only been started under saddle 5 months. I'm already annoyed she is stabled next to this other horse and has to regularly witness her box walking and rearing etc, now I have to have her turned out with mine too.
Any hints, tips would be gratefully received. Am I just being a pain?

Thanks

No chance what so ever- the big studs would be stuffed if there was as it would play havoc with cycles!
Sounds like this other mare could use a field mate, poor thing

Whilst the regumate isn't an issue I would be checking what the normal yard rules / contract says about sharing. Just because the owner of the other mare wants to share with you doesn't mean you want to share with them (and you fairly obviously don't) !

Unless the rules say you have to have shared turnout then I would be saying I'm sorry but no I'd rather not have my horse turned out with another horse. This way it isn't personally directed at her or her horse and she can hopefully just respect your decision that you prefer sole turnout.
