Friend has a 3 yr old who she shows in hand has done quite well in local hunter and hack classes and part bred arab classes. She has entered him in a hunter in hand class to exceed 14.2 when mature.
Now we are unsure if this is a suitable class for him. When he has done well all the judges have said he'll make a superb show hack but class she has entered will be hunters only.
And he will prob make 15 hh when mature so still quite small and tbh quite pony looking. So going what judges said would a show hack do well in a hunter only class.?
Also what bridle wear is correct turnout for hunter in hand class? Is it plain browband-she has a lovely bright red/gold one with big rossettes?

Thanks in advance

ps would riding pony/horse be better?

A show hack and hunter are completely different stamps.

I'd be guessing [without seeing him], that if he's PBA, to stick to doing hack and PBA classes probably. Or definately riding horse over a hunter class for him I'd say out the two if it comes down to it :)

Hunter turnout for that Q - plain brown tack :) Plain flat leather browband, plain flat noseband.

Thanks thats what I thought but tbh not really into showing world so thought I'd check so she can change classes before show.Daughter competed in showjumping things mainly and only did workers with one of her old ponys cause it had jumping in it lol -oh and he usually always got placed 1st/2nd lol little pothunter that she was!
ps thanks for the bit about tack

No expert but I'd have said if the judges say he would make a nice hack stick with that class or possibly Riding Pony/Horse if no hack class.

Heya. If it is the same build as Solo/Otis - id say Riding horse. If it is chunkier I would say Hunter. I think its basically, if it looks like a ladys horse - rising horse or show hack. If it looks like a man could ride it - Hunter.

But sayign that. the horses that wont the WH at Burgie was quite TB but it had a jump.

Ditto what Binky01 said - brown tack all the way!!!
