Well, Herbie seems to get every bloomin thing possible this year. He has a touch of mud fever, not badly, but as he is out 24/7 I wondered whether to have turnouts on him?
If so, which are the best? Or bandages? Or nothing? Not had a horse with mud fever before so not sure what to do (apart from cleaning it and treating it)

Flies are also bothering him, so will have to get a fly rug tomorrow.
He is such a plum of a horse

I have equilibrium turnout socks and I think they are fab, you can find them for next to nothing on equestrian clearance. I cannot remember how long they can stay on for you but I think their website does say.

turnout boots should only be worn for 12 hours but no-one ever remembers this!!

Equilibrium do summer turnout boots which reflect the sun rather than the black material drawing the heat in.

Ps. if anyone has some that they don't need anymore could you PM me.....

I have the sportabac ones and I would imagine he would sweat in turnout boots in the summer heat which could make it worse. They don't protect that well anyway...

Clean the area, pick off large scabs, leave to dry and apply sudocrem. Has always worked for me

...... antibacterial leg stuff, a grooming kit (why? I have loads!) hoof oil, a light sheet to keep flies off H, treats, a T shirt for Rachel and I'm sure there was something else! Oh yes, pink powder......
