Hi,
I have a very clumsy 4 year old. A few weeks ago i noticed scrapes across his actual hoof and small cuts above his coronet band so i put over reach boots on all 4 feet.
More recently I have noticed bangs and cuts on his legs along where his canon bone is.

I think possibly the best approach is turnout boots but im worried about them making his legs over hot and damaging his tendons.
Are there any turnout boots that do allow air to flow or would be possibly be better to get ordinary exercise boots that allow air to flow like the equilibrium all sport or dalmar boots?

Thanks

my gelding de-nerved the inside of his foot so he has to be turned out in boots full time as he has no idea where his legs are and i use these

i got them cheaper then that but they are good, the only problem is that where he has such a odd shaped foot because on the scar it rubs it slightly but none of his other legs get rubbed and they are good for keeping shoes on too!

Love love love my premier equine ones! Have a full set for each clumsy TB and they have been ace at preventing minor injuries and not overheating their delicate little legs. Plus they haven't slipped down and were a great price :D

My 4 year old is very clumsey too and after 2 stints of box rest this year from her pratting around I use these

I got mine alot cheaper on ebay though : ) They are fantastic even in hot weather.

She lives out so i tend to only put them on her overnight (when she seems to do the most damage) and then take them off in the morning. It does say they can be worn for 12 hours at a time though.

My horse has been turned out in turnout boots the last few days due to being next to a new horse for company and in case new horse jumped in with mine, his legs were boiling when I took them off yesterday so I'd say yes they get too hot, this could then cause other problems IMO

sounds fab! Which ones do you use? the actual turnout ones or the exercise air ones?

I just use the turnout ones as I have some of the exercise ones and they have more layers than the turnout (support for than cooling I guess) :)
