I was wondering any opinions/advice on paddock/TURNOUT boots?

Latley I feel as if I want to wrap my horse in cotton wool:p
because everytime I turn him out he comes in with a new minor injury (No lameness/pain) Just scratches, cuts and the things that bug me the most are bumps on his legs:mad:
Although hes not lame at all, (as you have seen from my other thread on magnet and cool boots) Im competing him alot and worrying about dealing with stress on the legs and over excertion. So coming in from the feild with bumps all over his legs makes things twice as worse!!

Im sure the reason he gets these is because he shares the feild with my warmblood and hes only 15.00hh little thoroughbred so he gets shoved around a bit. Im sure the warmblood is not being horrible on purpose, the thoroughbred is getting these injuries indirectly by say bashing himself with his own legs or overreaching when quickly moving out of the warmbloods way or be laying down then getting up in a hurry when the warmblood comes over. Also the play alot in the feild together, rearing up and galloping bucking, so this may be how some injuries occour, although the warmblood seems to never have any- Best of friends!:)

So, he's currently got 4 over reach boots on, but he normally gets bumps on his cannon bones and below the knee on his front and back legs. I was thinking of buying paddock boots for him to give him the extra protection on his skinny little thoroughbred legs, but im worried about them heating his legs too much as they would be left on all day (obiouusly checked daily for any rubbing etc.) and over night.
Especially as hes going to wear them on hot summer day's, I dont want to over heat his tendons as this is no good for them!
I would buy proper turnout boots (not brushing etc.), so do you think they would be okay? I was thinking f buying them in white to keep cooler and also most paddock/turnout boots are bade from "breathable material" to stop overheating tendons etc. But it doesnt matter if its the middle of summer on a boiling hot day, surley having boots on will heat up his legs?!
I was thinking of buying priemer equine ones (please look: http://www.premierequine.co.uk/acatalog/Turnout_Boots.html) which are "Highley breathable" Does anyone knoe any super-cool ones or cheaper brands?

Do you think turnout boots will be okay in the summer? And yes hot legs weaken tendons but will the "highly breathable" ones? And surley hot legs is better then splints, cuts, bumps and bruises?

Greatfull for all opinions/advice:D

unless he loons round the field for ages and ages his legs wont get hot enough to cause tendon breakdown! I would be getting some ventilated turnout boots for him

I just got mine some of those premier equine t/o boots - I got the white ones (dont ask why, they're now black) but anyway, her legs feel fine when she comes in, they dont slip and fit really well.

Yes, I was thinking hite as it reflects the heat/sun and will stay cooler than the black. Thats good to hear:D, have you been waering them in the summer heat though?

Sorry to barge into there thread what size of those boots do you think i should get for a 16.1 ish with thick set legs???

:D
I use brushing boots. Premier equine do ventilated brushing boots. I find they are stronger and offer more protection against impact than the turnout boots but prem equine do turnout wraps too :)

I was originally going to use brushing boots, but I heared they over heat alot and can rub where designed to be worn for short amounts of time. Are yours okay with brushing boots? As I already have a pair somewhere and this would save me money!:D
