Turnout boots!

I clipped my mares legs off today, to find she has some mud fever and both her back legs she is prone to it, and her field is quite muddy near the gate which we need to fence off. Thinking of getting some turnout boots for her, but have been told you can't put them on while she has mud fever as it will make it warm and cause it to spread! Is this true? Does anyone have any good/bad experiences with using turnout boots to stop mud fever? Thanks

Mine had terrible mud fever last year. Four white legs and pink skin, not good. He was in for a time and then I started to turn out in boots. As long as the mud fever is higher up you should be ok. If it's below the fetlock it will be tricky as I never found this part stayed that dry. I also used the equimed ag stable boots over night. I don't know if this was what definatly did it but it seemed to get under control after months if painting all creams invented on. I think the key is keeping clean and dry. Not easy in this weather. Ironically mine has been fine this winter but has been staying in a lot more due to an injury.

Thank you!! I really hate this weather!! Her mud fever is on her fetlock so it's quite low down so maybe boots won't work :-( I may have to bring her in through the day a bit more so she is out of the mud!! Arghh
