Hi,

does anyone have any recomendations for turnout chaps?

I am looking at the equilibrium hardy chaps http://www.horsepoosaddlery.co.uk/c...ml&WD=turnout&PN=Turnout_Boots.html#a818#a818 but on ebay horsepoo saddlery are selling what looks like similar boots called turnout socks for half the price:-

I like the cheaper pair obviously, also my horse is pretty hard on his turnout boots so don't want to fork out for an expensive pair that he tears to shreds after a month or two. On the other hand I don't want to get a cheap pair that rub..

Any thoughts on either of these or any better suggestions?

Thanks

I had some equilibrium hardy chaps... I used them for about a month after which time my horse's skin decided it was allergic to the neoprene in them. He got cellulitis which took 4 months or more (and a lot of £££) to get rid of completely. My horse is stupidly sensitive, though (is also allergic to sheepskin!), most don't have that problem. I did find they were starting to fall apart after that time, though.

Oo glad I asked! Falling down won't help! His normal brushing boots rub slightly using them all day in the field but they are quite hard. Maybe I will get a pair of those woof club boots, they are quite light and soft aren't they.

Thanks!

i have to say all of my liveries who them, plus myself whos tried them.... they havent lasted long... in the respect that the mud still gets under, they still slip, they dont dry out overnight etc so we all found its better to leave them naked and deal with the mud etc when they come in.

Out all all of the turnout chaps out there, the derby house ones actually seemed the best (one of the liveries who had a very HW mare found they were the only in her size) but i was pretty impressed with them.
