okay so i was thinking of taking Ron into a ridden or inhand (not decided yet!) ex-racer classes and think i will be plaiting him. However he won't let you do anything with his forelock. will it matter if i leave this unplaited? It is literally one strand of hair. lol

Strictly speaking, he should be plaited, including his forelock. This may seem a rather strange suggestion, but what about making him a 'false' forelock plait, by nicking a bit of tail hair and turning that into a mini plait, then stitching it in. Will he let you near his poll at all?

He will let a brsh near it and let you just about touch his poll (he is getting better)but once you start to 'tug' on it he sticks his head up previously has broke the lead rope. He can just about tolerate you plaiting his mane.
