I am looking for a rug that is in between a light weight and a medium weight. I don't think one exists though!

Lottie currently has a light weight Amigo (basically just a rain mac) and her medium weight is a Rhino with about 200g fill.

Does anyone make rugs that fall in between? I know Fal make one with a 40g fill but ideally I would like something with about 80g-100g fill.

Fal will make one to order but that is a very expensive option considering the amount of wear it will probably get as I only really need it for the days when it's a bit chilly for the light weight but too warm for a medium weight.

Any ideas? I guess I could just put something under her lightweight but I'm fussy and want a new rug!!

Sorry, can't help with the original question though!

Kinshead used to do a 100g, not sure if they still do though. I got the FAL 40g and it's is thicker than you'd think so perfect for inbetween days.

Yes it is, I had a look at one last night and I think that would probably do the job.

Never had a Fal before, do the sizes come up pretty standard? She's a 6ft3 in Horseware and Mark Todd.

Thanks for your help

Kingshead come up pretty standard although sit low in the shoulders.

The FAL came up roomy but still fitted my boy in his usual size but he is massively built, he is only 13.2hh but wears a 5ft 9!!

Blimey, that is big for a 13.2!

I'm going to go with a Fal I think, they look really well made and although a bit more expensive than the Kingshead I think they will probably last longer.

Thanks for your advice.

Yes I have to say I had the kingshead and my boy used to sweat a bit in it as it's not that breathable.

Not put the FAL on him yet so cannot comment on it really, looks nice though!!!

Yep, they get wet and muddy and horrible. Would much rather just get a nice new rug!

Still haven't decided between the Bulldog & the Warrior yet though...

She's Liver Chestnut.

The Bulldog comes in 2 colours - plum and green or lilac and navy. Warrior comes in green, blue & red tartan. Colour wise I think the Warrior would suit her better and it's aslo slightly cheaper.

Looks like I've made a decision!

Thats good as I have just ordered one! Found it for £79.95 from Eileen Douglas Tackshops, seemed like a good price and free delivery. Should be here Friday...

It's probably a bit late now, but you can get a 40g Slumberdown, which is made by FAL but cheaper. I got one for my old boy last year; quite roomy (as someone else has said) and warmer than you'd think - I too was looking for a 100g equivalent.

I also got the Kingshead 100g for the younger horse; haven't used it much but I think I too found that he sweats a bit in it, although it may have been too warm a day...
