Hi everyone,

I have always bought Horseware Ireland rugs as they fit Fred the thoroughbred like a dream. However, ALL my rugs have now either lost a front buckle, lost the buckle off a surcingle or have been ripped. The horses do not go completely mental when turned out, which may have justified the situation.

Anyway, can anyone recommend a brand of rug that fits like a Rambo/Rhino but may be a bit more hard wearing?

I'm a Rambo fan, but Premier Equine are a close second. However I do loathe the rugs with liners. Best to stick with single weights if the budget allows!

Do you not have a rug repairer near you? Much cheaper than buying new! I agree re Horseware rugs - they seem to be the only ones that fit mine properly so I pay more to start with then mend, repair, reproof etc etc. Have one that is 10 years old and still going strong.

A good tip when the front clips go is to use those clips you can buy in lots of different sizes, from DIY stores - sadly can't remember what they are called... But they look a bit like big safety pins and are spring loaded. They work brilliantly. If you google "climbing clips" you will see what I mean - very cheap from B&Q!
