Turnout rug recommendations

Premier Equine do 1680D which is the highest I have seen. Expensive experiment for a rug ripper but night be able to pick up a second hand one? Can you remove what he is ripping his rugs on?
 
look at rugs with a higher denier! 600d rips very easily! something like premier equine, ruggles, swish etc, will have 1200d + so will be more hard wearing and better for water proofness! failing that. you could get a cheap 0g and chuck that over the top as a protector for the rug underneath
