So having tried a friends Amigo on this morning it turns out a 6ft does fit her much better! My 6ft 3 is a bit big round the back end and starting to rub her shoulders so I think it's moving around too much. So I now either need to buy a couple of different weight rugs or some new liners! Do you all prefer the liners system or a few different rugs?
I think I may stuck to Amigo (or possibly Weatherbeeta) as I do like their rugs.

I never get rugs washed and re-proofed. I don't think they are ever as good again. I buy Horseware rugs usually but also have a couple of Shires that I rate. I tend to use them until they start to wear excessively and then sell on and buy replacements. The second hand value is usually good, if they are not damaged, and combined with the cost of washing and reproofing buying new actually doesn't end up costing v much more at all.

I'll never be doing this again! I have had 3 done and now worried they are all going to leak!

I don't use liners, it doesn't make any sense to me to buy a rug that fits then shove essentially a duvet underneath it, I'd hate it if my tweed jacket for example, suddenly had a Puffa gilet shoved under it because someone thought I wasn't warm enough, I wouldn't be able to move! I guess for TBs it might be OK but for large shouldered cobs it would not work at all.
If the outer leaks / gets ripped/soaked where do you go then? no rug.

Also - in heavy rain even though none of my rugs leak, I like to put a dry one on and allow the wet (on the outer) one hang up to drip dry, they weigh more when wet & I always have 2 of the rugs I use most often, in my case 100g combo and LW turnout.

how does using liners stop you having multiple outer rugs so some can dry?

I have 3 no fill combo rugs, 2 x 200gm combo rugs, and 100, 200, 300gm liners.

I tend to try and use a rug weight I can fit a thin liner in, as can machine wash liners every few weeks.

I’m considering going down this route! I’ve only ever had a 150g that takes liners and then I’m stuck as no other rug to put on!

.

I didn't say it didn't? I just meant, One set of liners and a rug can't be the most comfortable thing for the horse - I see that you personally don't do this but someone asking for advice might think it a good idea - (and the horse's comfort is paramount, not how few rugs anyone can get away with).
Wow. Was just giving my opinion, which is what I thought a forum was about.
Back in my box & will shut up.

I have a Horseware Rhino no fill and a 200g fill and 100g and 200g liners. This covers all scenarios from no fill up to 400g with or without neck cover.
I think this is what I'm going to do. I've ordered a 250g Amigo and think I will also get a 0 fill and then order 100g and 200g liners. Rugs are like gold dust - everything is out of stock! 100g liners are hard to find!

Over reaction? I didnt attack or criticise you. I questioned part of your original post, and said my experience was different.

If you are a Harry Hall member, I am for liability insurance, they have the Masta dome turnout rug on offer for £80.
Ah thank you for this - unfortunately Masta i don't seem to get on with! They don't fit well and I find they don't last very long :(
