Hi
Just had to make a post after watching parelli on TV this evening. It featured some of the cruellest treatment to horses I have ever seen. Any-one who would suggest otherwise should watch the program with the sound off. With out the sentimental music and fluffy words people will recognise this abuse for what it is. The horse I refer to was being sawed at in the mouth (it was wearing a thin wire type snaffle)mercilessly by it's rider, Its crime? standing still.

touchy subject on ere!

I for one agree with you and many others will too, just think they bored of going over the same ground, lol,if you look back at past posts you will get my meaning!!Trust me,not worth arguing over!!!

But didn't it have some sort of material, or rubber, I can't remember, attached to the reins so that if the rider pulled too strongly it would have snapped?
Just my thoughts on this particular programme from what was explained.
My OH did remark that he thought it looked cruel.

Might have, horse looked well peed off though. I'V noticed alot of young PNH horses for sale with vices such as napping and rearing. This kind of riding could explain why.

Well from what I could make out (as an ignorant non-parelli) ...Erm actually I don't know what they were trying to do but the horse appeared to be trying to climb over some barrel that was in front of it, they teach 'em to climb barrels so it probably thought it was meant to go over. The rider was yanking it's mouth from left to right (and i mean really pulling the bit through it's mouth) whilst bouncing up & down in the saddle and flapping legs in a frenzy. Linda parelli was cheering the rider on and then they stopped, linda said something and the crowd clapped (like seals begging for fish!)
the horse was really tolerant but what i found most disturbing was the way Linda grabbed the horses face as it desparately tried to move away.
I know parelli gets alot of attention on here but I was amazed.

the lady that poppy is with is doing the stage 1 parelli with her and is so far working really well for pops, i think it depends on the horses themselves. i know some people who hav taught there horses the barrell thing too

but i personally don't kno enough about it to pass fair judgement
