I jumped my horse a few weeks ago and the next day she was lame in trot. Her offside fetlock swelled up and a few days later I called the vet. She was still lame and he said it looked as though she had tweaked her SFT, but he didn't think it was bad. He gave me bute, and told me to cold hose and apply DMSO for a week and bandage her, but keep her out in the field. The swelling went down very quickly, within a couple of days. I phoned to update him and he said give it a few more days and start walking her out on soft ground and take off the bandages. As soon as the bandages were off I realised the swelling hadn't completely gone down and to me her fetlock looks slightly bowed, with some heat still in it. I phoned the vet again who is coming to scan her and drain the excess fluid. He has told me to keep her bandaged and out until he comes on Friday. Anyone been through this? I'm so worried she's going to be out of work for ages, and I'm moving yards in 3 weeks and I really don't want to be moving an injured horse. The thoughts of when she has to go in the field with new horses and then just run round (ahhhhh) it fills me with dread.

Just had the vet, he was really happy with her and has told me to get back on and start walking her out for 30-45 minutes daily, avoiding roadwork. He didn't want to scan her, as he said she is making good progress. I'm so excited, I haven't ridden for 3 weeks but I'm just going to go and ride now
