Am I right in thinking that it is fine to wear tweed after Opening Meet? I have always hunted in tweed, before and after OM (I don't go out often so don't really want to invest in a hunt coat for a couple of outings). I've moved yards and looking at going out a few times with the local pack whose website says navy or black hunt coats only. Secretary just said tweed fine for autumn hunting, but I always thought tweed was acceptable after OM too?

Whenever I've been after OM, or followed on foot, there are always at least a couple of people in tweed.

Thanks :)

My local hunt isn't really too bothered, as long as you are very smart, cleaned your tack and your horse is plaited and clean too they are farily good about what jacket.

Although they like well mannered horses and the riders too know the eqiute (sp!) though

No but all depends on which hunt.
Tweed should only be used for gate shutters and Pony Club members after opening meet at least if you are a subscriber but could be permissible if you are a newcomer although if it looked like you'd be going more than a couple of times they'd probably ask you to change to black or navy - and take out a subscription.
I'm pretty sure the Albrighton are exactly the same too but always worth checking with the secretary.

There may possibly be some exceptions (as always in these things, ask the Secretary of the Hunt with which you are going out) but as a general rule, you are never incorrectly dressed in Ratcatcher.

I don't think I could pass as a PC member, the grey hairs would give me away! ;)
