Hi All, Please can I have some advice. I am in hand showing my warmblood next Sunday. Is it ok to wear white jodpurs with a tweed jacket? It looks very smart but I'm not sure if its the done thing! Any advice gratefully received. I am unwilling to spend any money at this stage as this this is a one off just to give my horse experience. Thanks so much! Hannah

As long as you look smart it doesn’t matter really.

I do in hand with mine in a tweed and black jeans (he has white legs - contrasting colours)

I wouldn't advise wearing jodhpurs for inhand showing, unless you are riding the same horse later at a local show but then you would wear beige/canary jodhs, you wouldnt wear tweed and white jodhs for riding. Ideally you need trousers of a contrasting colour to your horse's legs.

It’s absolutely fine if that’s all you have, go and enjoy!

I’d say cream/beige would be better than white and ideally trousers. If you have a grey horse or one with big white socks consider dark trousers instead.

It’s the horse being judged not the handler! You should be smartly turned out but unless wildly untidy or wearing something unusual judges don’t have time to study the handlers outfits. Personally l would avoid white and find another colour but any will be ok.Good luck 😀

You'd be surprised at just what judges note down when looking over horse and rider/Handler. It's not 100% the horse being judged but also the overall presentation of horse and handler.

OP please try to avoid the white jods if you just doing inhand. Wear a sensiblely coloured pair of trousers instead.

I would raid a local charity shop and buy some smart chino trousers that compliment the horse. Either fawn, cream or brown.
Remember shoes that will keep you upright and composed whilst trotting up!

Personally I would avoid jods for in-hand showing especially white ones as green slobber seems to be very attracted to white. As others have suggested trousers would probably be a better idea.

As others have said, don't wear jodphurs for in hand showing. Do you have any smart trousers already, such as chinos, work trousers, smart coloured jeggings/skinny jeans (green, burgandy, cream, black) cords etc? You would be much better off wearing them.
