Anyone seen the article about the older horses?!! I've got a warmblood who'll be 17 this May and hes still fitting fit and still bucks me off at hunter trials! He loves going out and competing! I always worry about him getting older and not being able to compete anymore! But these sort of articles make you feel like older horses can still do it! Whoo Hoo!

My gelding is 14, and everybody thinks he is about 7!!He will be one of those than never stops.....!Know exactly what you mean articles like that make me smile

I havent seen it yet but i have a 22yr old who wins showjumping every weekend and is unbeatable against the clock, oldies are the best! everyone always asks how old she is and theyre always shocked when i answer!
 
My 19yo is just about to start competing again - only reason we haven't done anything for last couple of years is lack of time - he's still like he was a 6yo and has not yet once in the 14 years I've owned him walked out stiff in the mornings

The chase me charlie at one of last year's shows at our yard was won by a 29 year old pony!! The owner said people come up to her at shows and ask if that is X and then tell her they learnt to ride on him!

We took our 22 year old gelding to a show last year and he played up really badly - the judge asked what was wrong with him because he kept shouting - he was in the veteran class and she had to ask us to repeat ourselves when we said that he was missing his mum! She wasn't sound that day otherwise she would have gone too.

my old pony - 27 and still going.
he was 25 in the above picture and is still jumping and winningand loving it
(although only ickle fences now)
