Will try and keep it short as am very tired! But I do babble on a bit!

So up at 5am this morning to go to Tweseldown, turned the girls out in the darkness! Left a bit late but got there in ok time. Walked the course which was much the same as when I went with Spider in July, a few things were different and the hanging log at 8 was on a real dodgy angle. Only things worrying me was that, and number 5 not to keen on that palisade running downhill to the chair.

Anyway warmed up for dressage and was warming up quite well but I know he lights up when he gets over to the ring, he went quite well apart from the medium walk very tense and jogging! But scored 35.5 which I was quite pleased about.

Straight down to SJing, and the bright plastic jump 4 joy fences, was causing carnage as usual, no one was really warming up so warmed up and went in - was a bit nervous I would forget course!! Which I never do but managed to miss a fence at Keysoe last weekend so was ohdear what if I miss one!! Anyway he was great and just tapped the fence every one was having the red upright at 7.

Change of boots and my attire and off to XC, he warmed up lovely and felt great over the warm up fences and couldnt belive how well behaved he was as he hasnt xc'd for a couple of weeks and usually throws himself about. Well he saved that for the start box!! Starter said go and I was still encouraging him into box!! As its just all too exciting! Just cantered on and off we went. Had decided to go for it as had a decent score, well what can I say he was excellent - flew the palisade and chair, had a slight divert at 6 when I realised the jump judges car was on the line I had walked!!

Had a man crossing my track at 7! Looking at me like what are you doing her! Then had to really sit up and bring him back for hanging log, turn and kick and we were over! Took a massive flyer at the table, up step up down and out, flew through the water - have a grt piccie of him over the skinny out, then galloped up rnd the corner slowed up for drop to skinny bush and galloped home! He was great and I ended up with no time pens YEY! Have had some on the last few and today was real tight so very pleased. Anyway was lying 4th so stayed and waited and at the end they called on the tannoy the placings and I was 10th - so went and bought piccies went into tent and I was 11th!! So was a bit miffed by that! Would have been 7th without the pole, and 9th and 10th and me was split by point penalties, with me on 39.5 and 10th on 39.4

But I was very very pleased with him and was nice to be able to run competitively - Have Little Downham OPN Sunday so hoping for a repeat of today! He was excellent and my pics show I was smiling from ear to ear around the XC!

Sounds like a great day. Well done, and good luck for next outing next week.

Try being 6th, and told that you aren't getting a rosette, that happened to us at last event. BE are v nice people if they give rosetted to 10th.

Well done.

Ive suffered with 11th place twice this year and down to .8 penatlies too, very frustrating.
Good luck at the next one.

Oh wow, that's brilliant HJ, I think you may finally have found the right horse for you, sounds like you're becoming a great team. OPN is so stupidly competitive, I'm sure next year you'll be a regular in the top 10 at ON and above.

Think you may be right about finding the right one at last! Have all winter to get to know him to and become more of a partnership before next season.

Thanks to the person who thought rosettes to 10th was generous, my company have sponsored all the PN sections at Tweseldown for the last 3 years, this year we did prizes in kind 1-3, vouchers 4-6 & rosettes to 10th. Thanks to everyone who was polite & pleased with their goodies, no thanks to those who were rude & ungrateful, next time you might win a hoof pick at PN, not a prize which would retail at £60!!! Remember, I've been there 8.30am till the end of the day for 4 days, plus setting up & breaking down, I could have been competing my own horses, but was working, so a smile & a thankyou goes a real long way.
