After her first ever jumping session last week (tiny crosses) we had another play tonight. its brilliant she is just so cool about everything including now going first thorugh all the woods on hacks. All our fences tonight were very small but we have had the tyres leant against the fences this time and although cautious she did go when i put my leg on bless her. We decided to pop a placing pole in front of the fence but to be honest i dont think she is balanced enough to cope with this as well as picking her feet up at the same time as she knocked them down the two times we tried! In the end we took the placing pole away and just trotted over a small (id say about 2ft) upright which she did brilliantly. Oh how I love teaching babies! What do people think on the whole introducing placing poles to babies? we had it set about three paces away from the fence which is what i normally do it as so is this due to twig being unbalanced that she couldnt cope with the two? she trotted the upright fine when it was on its own.

On another note her flatwork is positively coming along, her trot work is absolutely floating.....being sat on her when she beings to work is amazing....during my lesson last week my instructor who regularly rides adv med said that trot is easily an 8, oooo roll on 5yo byeh class at branham next year! im not sure i'll be ready for 4yo classes this year due to transport issues!

So, where to go from here for her jumping wise? Im currently borrowing a gp saddle at the moment as I only have a dressage which fits her although we have the saddle fitter coming out next week to get us sorted with a jumping saddle!

love teaching the babies, it is so rewarding, mine had his first proper lesson last friday, and did his first ever upright
