A friend of mine has a horse which has suffered from intermittent lameness quite a bit. The horse is sound atm, but the other day whilst we were hacking up the road and her horse went ahead, I noticed that its back feet seemed to be slipping. On closer inspection, I saw that this was caused by a strange twisting action through the hind leg, which seemed to be emanating from the stifle region and causing the hoof to twist inwards as it walked. This was present in both hind legs, but more pronounced in the right side.
I cant say Ive noticed this in other horses, though Im not that perceptive unless looking for a problem! Another girl who was with us said that the horse had always walked like that.
Has anyone had experience with this sort of thing before?
