Hello,

I am wanting to pull horses mane but to do so she needs twitching, the problem i have is theres only me, no1 to help, so just wondering if its possible to twitch her alone and pull her mane?

Please i dont want this to be a discussion about twitching :)

Yes! I put double string on the handle of a hoofpick (you have to sort of guess the length), apply to the nose then tuck the pick end into one of the buckles of the headcollar. Simples!

As long as you are confident that you know what you'r doing!
if not, i would say, find another way to tidy her up. Or wait for professional help.
 
Try applying clove oil to the base of the mane, helps to numb it. You wouldn't want to leave a twitch on for more than a few minutes at a time, so unless you're pretty quick at pulling a mane, I'd suggest a Solo Comb.

Oooh! You is clever - never thought to use a hoof pick. I usually tuck the end of the twitch inside the headcollar.

A tip for reducing the discomfort is to use Oil of Cloves. Mix with 75/25 Oil of Cloves and Rubbing Alcohol and rub into the skin at the roots of the mane. Numbs it for a while.

Try to pull over a few weeks so that the pulling isn't an ordeal. I do mine when they are eating, being Clydie crosses if food is involved they are usually very agreeable.
 
I have to admit that I never twitch tightly enough, one twitch of his muzzle and my boy 'pings' the twitch off :o

I want to say just be careful if you try oil of cloves as I have seen a horse have an allergic reaction to this...best to try a 'patch test' if you want to use this.
 
Yes oil of cloves can cause allergiv reactions. Test patch is a good idea.
I also use the hoof pick idea to twitch, works wonders. However work quickly, I have always been told to never leave a twitch on for too long!
