Right i have a question for you all if you can answer

You know if i touch Kates wither she hates it!
She spins and trys to bit and she shakes her front end like mad

Does anyone know what this is? and how to get back to normal with it?

She has only started doing it (quiet a lot) in the last 2 weeks. I walk around riding her touching and messing about with it to try and get her used to it but shes having none of it
Can anyone help?

Has she had a blow to the wither?

A horse at my previous yard exhibeted behaviour like this and it was discovered that he had a fracture.

May be worth having a the vet to look at him to find out why this is happening.

Of course, it could also be the saddle - is this due for a service, or have you recently changed it?

Not sure

I have just spoke to my sister and she said that it could be a tickle spot because when her reins touch there she shakes

Thanks anyway x

Is there any sign of any sw4elling at all.
It may be an ingrowing hair brewing up, it can make them very touchy, although I would have expected it to have 'popped' by now.
Could you try applying hot/cold compresses to the area?

She hasnt had a rug on for over 2 months now though

A rug has nothing to do with it.

A few suggestions have been given:

1. Ingrowing hair
2. Injury to Wither
3. Saddle pinching

Her reaction sounds severe to your touching the area and I would want it checked.
