Rode out today with Mum. Pony has got a bit twitchy on her left hand side recently. She's a sensitive horse and we've been working on her acceptance of the leg in general in the school with both my instructors (she's hunted and legs mean go fast, reins stop!) They've both said its just sensitivity and she'll get better.

Anyway Mum couldn't put her left leg on today out hacking without ears back, tail swishing, jogging and swinging quarters, right leg is fine. Mum got off and lead her back most of the way as definitely pain related. Only seems to react to palpitation in the area where her girth buckles are on the left hand side.

Have lathered her in arnica cream tonight will let her have a few easy days to let any soreness heal. Is it likely that where our legs are over the buckles its causing soreness? My Albion selecta (which was checked last month) is girthed 1/2 way up both sides, I use a standard aerborn girth as she's not a fan of the wintec elasticated girths and is a pear shape with a forward girth groove. She is also in season at the moment so could be related.

Someone suggested a longer girth for a trial. Sorry for the essay! Any ideas/similar experiences?
