So the new ned arrives on Saturday, and for the short term he will be at a different yard to my old mare for the short term (my normal yard needs some repairs due to a tornado ripping the roof off a load of our barns in june  so all the empty stables have been taken up by the residents of the stables under the damaged roof! Hope that makes sense!) so does anyone else have to visit 2 different yards twice a day? How do you manage/cope? Any tips?

If you are working FT, this would be impossible without help. Can you not stable share until a seperate stable is ready. i.e. one horse out at night, the other out during the day?

I have done it, it's not ideal but possible. At least yours is only for short term. I hated having mine at different yards (had to due to both yards only having one space at the time). Always felt guilty if I spent a long time at one yard that my other horse wouldn't be getting enough attention! Eventually managed to move them both back together again and it was so much better. So long as yards aren't too far apart it's not bad, yes a bit more rushing around but just means getting up a bit earlier in morning and getting home later at night.

I currently have 3 split across two yards. I'm working full time (but in a school, so start/finish earlier than most jobs). Currently the only help I have is one brought in on a Monday as I go straight from work to tutoring and get up the yard much later and he'd be out by himself. I guess if you work till after 5 you'd probably need the pony dragged in with the rest before dark, depending on when the rest come in.

The other two live out, so although visited twice a day / field cleared / field changing etc, if I go up later / earlier it doesn't matter too much.

It's worth the extra work to have the working pony at a place with a school, and the old lad / youngster at my field where they can live out.

It is not impossible,

I have done it and I work 40 hours a week. I ride them both 5 times a week too.

I will be doing it again over this winter. It helps if the yards a reasonably close together and you just have to be organised.

Thanks everyone, Thankfully the yards are close, and are in the right direction ie. can go from home to new ned, to Connie to work and the opposit order on the way home (am hoping new ned will be out 24/7 to save the turn out/bring in hassle)

Oh, and also, I have annual leave from work from Monday for the week so week one wont be a problem at all, also, I am turning Connie and her field mate out every morning at the moment, so field mates owner has said she'll do mornings when I'm back at work which fingers crossed should make things easier...

Just hope the weather is ok for the next week or 2, so the roofing can be fixed in as short time as possible so i can get them both on the same yard... here's hoping!
