Read a article yesterday in a magazine family went away on holiday onlt to recievbe a phone call saying their ponys
shelter had been vandalised and the pony was found dead in the field with gashes all over its head, it had been beaten about the head with a rusty metal pole that had later been found in the field.

I felf pysically sick just reading it, poor pony

His place is near Burbage, I wondered this too.

The story about the pony and the field shelter is horrendous - whoever did it is vile and should be caught because I have read that sickos who do this sort of thing to animals often progress to doing far worse to humans.

Makes me very glad to think that if any stranger went up to my horse in the filed and tried to touch her, she'd double barrel them!

this is disgusting and as I've got a horse in the yard that about 3 years ago in another yard caught it's hindquarter muscle on a gate catch in about the same place - that horse is not the same and has to have regular muscle work to keep sound - so the poor victim isn't just 'scarred' but the damage to that muscle could put him out of work for the rest of his life

there are some very sick people in society

I won't and don't have any of mine out at night and I don't have any turned out during the day unless I'm on the property - if I go out the horses come in to a secure stable yard

but - bottom line - we shouldn't need to do that - we should be able to leave our horses out if we want without worrying if this sort of thing will happen

OMG this sort of thing really upsets me as if its not bad enough some horses get slashed but to actually die and its little home destroyed and probably just hoping his mummy will come help him awwww its horrible

Not passing any judgement on this case as I don't know the facts and can't tell anything from that news clip, but most of these cases do turn out to be self inflicted when the matter is fully investigated. It amazing what kind of injury a horse can do to itself with no obvious sign of anything to do it on.
