I'm competing in some unaffiliated showjumping on Saturday, but in the schedule it says that it is 'run as two phase competition'. Sorry to be thick....but can someone explain this to me? Thanx.
The first half of the course is the 1st phase (usually 6 or 7 fences). If you are clear at the end of the 1st phase you continue straight onto the 2nd phase which is the jump-off and will incorporate the remaining fences. The 1st phase is not usually timed, but the 2nd phase is, and is against the clock as per any normal jump off
I must admit, when I first started to jump in the 2 phase, I didn`t like the idea as I used to like to jump off. Now, it is a different story, I love the 2 phase as there is no waiting around for a jump off. Much better.
I like the new single phase too.
