Thanks for the warning, my yard is just down the road from TEC so can you let me know what other yards were affected via PM if you prefer as I would like to pass on the info to other horse owners not on here.

Thanks.

I saw a fantastic padlock on sale at the county show last week, but forgot the name. It was heavy duty, black, and when tampered with either emitted a piercing alarm or rang the police or your mobile and acted as a radio receiver so you knew what was going on.
It has to be the best padlock ever if you haven't a proper alarm. I didn't ask the price it looked expensive.
My old solution used to be fix a cheap rape alarm out of sight of the gate or door, remove the string and replace with fishing line which is near invisible, then put a loop on the end which you loop round a nail or similar across or round the gate or door, so that when it's opened the pin flies out and the alarm goes off. Even in isolated areas this scares the hell out of burglars as no way can they turn it off easily unless they realise where the pin has gone. For a fiver for an alarm you can protect your tackroom or entrance gate..better than having saddles stolen which was why I started using one after it happened to me..
Of course if they drive through a wall (ours is not only alarmed but metal lined and bricks glued together as a preventative) there isn't a lot you can do other than fix your alarm on your gate...

The Crime Prevention Unit in our Police force were selling the heavy duty alarmed locks for £10each
There is no name on the lock/box/instructions so must have been a special order
Might be worth asking for CPU to visit and advise
